Much like footprints on the Moon, once you leave a mark in cyberspace, it may be there for a long long time.
So it seems that as long as I own this piece of the blogsphere, I will still update it from time to time. If nothing else, at least keep up with a few of the changes to the program so I can advise other bloggers new to the world.
I am no longer living in California, yet I keep getting drawn back into the news of CA. From Facebook friends that keep me updated on the happening of the crowded 405 in LA, to past co-workers still forced to live and work under that regime, to finally the news itself that prints headlines I can't help but follow.
Recent example comes in the way of a news story of a riot at the Chino prison. I never worked this particular prison, but the closest one in Norco. I was working there the last time there was a riot at the Chino prison so I have a good feeling of how things happened. The surrounding prisons went to immediate lock-down, (as did the rest of the state shortly thereafter), response teams were organized, geared up and waited for orders to move out. Officers would then be sent to the Chino prison to help out. By that time I'd imagine the main show was over and they were left to fill in behind slots of regular staff in Chino that had been sent to the incident. All in all, quite the mess I am sure.
Man it's great to be retired. Just wish I still didn't have to worry about my friends still back there. Take Care brothers and sisters.

Help the Hungary
Or more correctly, help the people of Hungary.
While the US is under hard economic times, it is easy to forget that the rest of the world is still under tremendous stress. I have not forgotten, and I am concerned for the people of Hungary that live in housing that is unsafe and sub-standard. To that end I am investing my time, energy and money this summer to work with the Global Village team under the Habitat for Humanity banner in building homes for families in that part of the world. Would you please consider helping this effort?
I want to learn more Mike.

Moving On
Time to bow out of this particular arena myself.
However, I have learned to love blogging about news and views, so I am going to continue this under a new blog.

Be Careful

The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.
The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the members of our Congress.
Vote carefully this year.

Sacrifice Fly
Now that the GOP has wrapped up things until the convention, we can turn some attention to the Democrat stategy.
I find it amusing how each side has managed to use others to do their smear work. Obama leaks out the image that Clinton is a "monster", good thing it did not come from anybody official in his campaighn. Only his wife. She's entitled to her opinion, and if it makes good copy, who can make an issue of it.
Ms. Hillary can not use the "spousal" tactic, so her method is to ask one of her own team members to "take one for the team".
Now Geraldine Ferraro is not a "racist", but the team she worked for knows how to use the "race card". Nor do I believe that a seasoned, intelligent politition would make the comments she made and not know the storm of controversy it would create.
She was perfect for this role. She has the respect and name recognition to make it an airable quote. It had to come from someone who has faced the glass ceiling and has been accused of tokenism. And the person had to be expendable. I am not sure any but the cronic political junkies as myself and other even knew she was working for the Clinton camp until this came out.
For what has come out of this, classic Clinton stategy.
